Terms of Service
Last updated: July 14, 2026
The short version
Welcome to the lists. Enjoy The Joust, play fair, be kind to other riders, and do not damage or interfere with the game or its services. We will do our best to treat you with that same fairness.
These terms are the fuller version of that promise. By using The Joust website, game services, or online features, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use those services.
What these terms cover
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and The Joust team (“The Joust,” “we,” or “us”). They cover this website, player accounts, matchmaking, online play, support, and other services we provide for The Joust (together, the “Services”).
Our End User License Agreement applies to the game software itself, and our Privacy Policy explains our limited collection and use of account data. If a platform's terms also apply, you must follow those terms too.
Eligibility and account access
You may use the Services only if you can legally agree to these Terms where you live. If you are not old enough to agree on your own, a parent or legal guardian must review and accept them for you.
We currently use only the minimum account information needed to provide a unique player identity and operate the game. We do not collect or store passwords. You are responsible for protecting access to the Steam or other platform account connected to your player identity and for telling us if you believe that access has been misused.
Ride fair
Competition should be spirited without making the field miserable for anyone else. When you use the Services, please do not:
- cheat, automate play, exploit bugs for an unfair advantage, or help others do so;
- harass, threaten, abuse, or target other players with hateful conduct;
- disrupt matches, servers, security, or another player's access;
- impersonate another person or use the Services for fraud or unlawful activity; or
- upload, transmit, or share anything that violates another person's rights.
If you find a bug or security issue, please tell us through the contact form before sharing details publicly. Good-faith reports help us protect every rider.
The Joust content
The game, website, artwork, audio, names, logos, code, and other materials we provide are owned by or licensed to The Joust. We give you a limited right to use them as needed to enjoy the Services and as described in the EULA. We do not transfer ownership of that content to you.
We are happy to see players share ordinary gameplay screenshots and videos for personal, community, or non-commercial purposes. Please do not suggest that your creation is officially endorsed, misuse someone else's work, or turn our brand or game assets into a separate commercial product without permission.
Purchases and platforms
The Joust may be offered through Steam or another third-party platform. That platform processes purchases, payments, and eligible refunds under its own terms. Steam purchases are subject to the Steam Subscriber Agreement, and Steam refund requests are handled under the Steam Refunds policy.
We do not receive or store your full payment-card details. Third-party platforms and linked sites have their own terms and privacy practices, and we are not responsible for services they control.
An evolving game
The Joust is an active game. We may patch, balance, add, remove, or change features; perform maintenance; or temporarily limit online Services. We aim to communicate material disruptions when practical, but we cannot promise that every feature or match will always be available or error-free.
Keeping the lists welcoming
If someone breaks these Terms, we may give a warning or restrict, suspend, or end access to some or all Services. We will try to respond proportionately, considering the seriousness, impact, and history of the conduct. We may act immediately where needed to protect players, security, or the integrity of a match.
You may stop using the Services at any time. Sections that naturally need to continue—such as ownership, warranty limits, and liability limits—remain effective after access ends.
Warranties and responsibility
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Services are provided “as is” and “as available,” without promises that they will always be uninterrupted, secure, or free from errors. Nothing in these Terms removes warranties or consumer rights that the law where you live does not allow us to exclude.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Joust is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses arising from the Services. We do not limit responsibility where doing so would be unlawful, including responsibility that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer law.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the game and Services develop. We will change the date at the top and, when practical, give reasonable notice of material changes. Continuing to use the Services after updated Terms take effect means you accept the updated version.
